Crop establishment

Mulch film that keeps water in the row and weeds out of the crop

Blown from virgin LLDPE on three-layer lines and cut to the bed width you actually run, so nothing is wasted at the furrow and nothing tears on the planter.

Agricultural Mulch Film

Overview

Mulch film is the cheapest input on most vegetable blocks and the one that decides how evenly a crop starts. Thickness tolerance is the detail that separates a workable roll from an expensive one: ours is blown with inline gauging and stays inside ±5% of nominal across the full width, instead of drifting thin at the roll edges. That is what stops the film splitting on the planter head and what keeps the UV package spread evenly over the field rather than concentrated in the middle.

Every roll is cut to the width you order — 0.8 m for a single strawberry row, 1.4 m for double-row peppers, 4.0 m for sugarcane or orchard strips — so there is no folding in the wind and no waste at the end of the bed. Cores are matched to your planter, and rolls can carry your own brand on the edge print and the core label.

What it does in the field

  • Even thickness, end to end

Inline gauging holds the roll to ±5% of nominal thickness, so the film feeds through the planter without snagging or necking down.

  • Water stays under the film

A closed mulch surface cuts evaporation from the bed by 30–40% and evens out the moisture swing between irrigation cycles.

  • Weed control without herbicide

Opaque film stops weed germination in the planting strip and removes two or three hand-weeding passes in the first eight weeks.

  • Warmer soil, earlier harvest

Black and clear film lift soil temperature 2–5 °C in the rooting zone, which brings transplanting and the first cut forward.

  • UV matched to your season

Stabiliser levels are set for a 12-month or 24-month growing cycle, so the film does not embrittle halfway through the crop.

Grades available

01

Black

Blocks light completely, warms the soil and suppresses weeds. The default choice for tomato, pepper and strawberry beds.

02

Silver-black

The reflective face repels aphids and thrips and pulls canopy temperature down in hot climates; the black underside still stops weed growth.

03

White-black

Reflects light back into the lower leaves and keeps the root zone cooler in high-radiation regions, with the same weed control underneath.

04

Clear

Maximum soil warming for early maize, melon and sugarcane establishment where weed pressure is handled separately.

Packing & loading

Rolls are wound on 76 mm or 152 mm cores and wrapped in a PE sleeve with a printed label carrying width, thickness, length and lot number. Palletised or loose loading, with a loading plan issued before shipment.

Questions buyers ask

About 8 tonnes per 20GP and 18 tonnes per 40HQ. We send a loading plan with the quotation so you can see how many rolls of each width fit before you book.

Yes. Edge printing and a branded core label are both available, showing your logo, width, thickness, length and lot number. The minimum is one pallet per design.

Sugarcane is normally laid at 0.02–0.03 mm in 3–4 m width because the film has to survive cane harvest traffic. Vegetables run 0.012–0.02 mm.

A 1 m sample of each colour and thickness is free. Freight is collect on your courier account and samples ship within two days.
